Wednesday 12/9/09

On Wednesday it was considered dead day at sjsu. There was no classes in session just maybe study sessions and stuff like that. So i didnt have class for lld1, math19, or muse. The next following days and next week are just for finals. I got my results back from my final in lld1 and i didnt pass. Meaning i have to go to community college. On Tuesday and Wednesday of these week i have finals at 945am-12noon for muse and engineering.

Monday 12/7/09

Today i didnt have my lld1 class because we already had finals on saturday. I think i didnt do so well, but i wont get my results untill friday. Also my professor has office hours this week by appointment only. If i dont pass my final for lld1 i will have to go to a community college. So today i got to wake up later than usually and found that there was alot of snow on the mountain tops. I had my math class today at1030am and we went over the topics on the final and then had a quiz. Today was our last class in math but we have a reiview session on wednesday. In muse class we are just making sure we have everthing done. We are writing our 4 year get internet famous plan and looking at the views on our videos. I am down about 100 views. Later today my brother has a basketball game vs. Lynbrook high at 7pm.

Wednesday 12/2/09

Dang itt..second time i forgot to blog on the right day. I just was too busy and not thinking about blogging. Well aways yesturday in my LLD1 class we just talked for bit then my professor opened it up for offices hours. I went to her office to talk about my essay and then during my break i went to MLK Library to study. Then in math19 we just took notes and reviewed homework. In muse class we individually talked to cindy and professor dan about our grades, how we are doing, and scholarly paper. He pushed the date farer so it is now due Monday. Later that day i went to my brothers basketball tournment at james lick high school. I kept stats and they won against overfelt by at least 15 points. Today they play Palo Alto at 630pm. So this weekend i have my first final for english and i just gotta get studying.

November 30 2009 Monday

What i tiring weekend. Starting from Wednesday night i had to go to Vans shoe outlet at great mall because that was our training for Friday. My friend job my a one day job at Vans because they need more help on Black Friday. So on Wednesday night i had training from 8pm-10pm and didnt get home till about 11ish. On Thrusday it was thanksgiving and i just slept the whole day and ate a turkey dinner my mom made because at midnight i had to go to great mall to work. Lucky my dad drove me to great mall because there was no way i was gonna make it on time to work and find a space. The mall was packed with people and long lines. My dad even had to drop me off at the stoplight because he couldnt get in to the parkinglot. It was that crowded. And in the mall it was packed to. As soon as i got to Vans, my manager put me straight to work because people were starting to shoplift. This was my first experience working and it was tiring. I had to stand the whole 8 hours from 12-830am. I didnt take any breaks and only had a quick 30 minuite lunch. Vans store was very crowded and i saw lots of my friends come in. I learned it is hard work to earn so little money. As soon as i got off work, i went home and slept. Then later that night my family and i went to my grandparents house to have thanksgiving. It was soo good. Then friday night i got a call from Vans saying they need help on saturday from 6am till whenever. I said okkay and i went to sleep early and got up on saturday morning at 5am. The store was a mess when we got in at 630am. Our job was clean it up and the manager said we made about $35000, we are the one of the top 10 stores in the mall. After that the rest of my weekend i just slept or did homework.

today woke up at 630am to get to my lld1 class at 730am. on my way to school my car seemed a bit different. i could shift gears. in my lld1 class foundout my final is this saturday. in math class we did our normal stuff and in muse class went over scholoaly paper and someother stuff. later im goin to the st. marys bball game at sjsu and work out.

Wednesday 11/25/09

Its just one minute past 1pm now and today has been okay. Woke up around 930am to get ready for only 1 class at sjsu today. My lld1 and muse class have been furloughed because this is the day before thanksgiving. So i only had my math19 class and only about 25 students showed up. My professor also give free krespy kreme donuts. Then i got my exam back that i did horrible on. I thought i was going to do better but i guess i thought wrong. i then got a call from Vans because i am going to work there on Black friday and they told me i have to come in today at 8pm-10pm. I also need to sign up for spring 2010 classes today at 2pm. So ive got to go now cause ive got hw to do and im getting busy.

Monday 11/23/09

Its midday right now and im just chilling with Nate in the MLK library at sjsu. I just got out of my muse class about 15 minutes ago. On Friday i got my paycheck from easyhoops bball league. What a tiring day i had to refee 4 games in a row but then we went out to round table pizza. I also got to see my cousins 350z. On saturday i went to my brothers bball pratice in the morning and then went to my cousins bday party in redwood city. On sunday i just stayed home the whole day and tryed to do some homework but mainly i just surfed the net, washed my car, and watch the music awards. Today in lld1 class we took our last in class essay about the california drivers test should be changed. We also have a furlough day on wednesday for lld1. In math class went went over homework and took new notes. On wednesday we will get back our exams and have free food in class. In muse class we went over job or careers and we will have no class on wednesday. I am suppose to attach the radio broadcast on my blog. For the rest of the day i think i am going to stay in the library to get done some homework and then hopefully later i can work out.

Wednesday 11/18/09

First time i forgot to blog on the right day. I must of got distracted our sidetrack and forgot to blog yesturday. Well any ways yesturday woke up as normal at 630am to get to school by 730am. It is very cold in the mornings now and i dont wanna get out of bed. In lld1 class we study global warming more and learned about the essay format we should write in. In math19 class we just went over our homework and then took more notes. We also have a exam 4 this friday. In muse class we did our interviews with a senior and peer mentor using the radio broadcast. Our 2nd draft of our scholarly paper is due next wednesday i believe.

Today was fun. My engineering class was canceled so i got to go to the DC (dining commons) food hall. They were having free food from 11am-3pm. Also i am staying at school till 8ish today cause im about to go to a volleyball game.

Monday 11-16-09

For muse class i need to make 5 or so questions to ask a peer mentor. This will be for our radio project. Also we need to work on our scholarly paper. Professor Dan has looked over some of them and sent it back to us. 2nd draft is due this friday. Update our blog sites with adsense, Facebook, etc. Think about what we should do for our final. Today was Veteran's day so i didnt have class today. I actually hear the community colleges still had class today but they get friday off. lol i get friday off anyways because it is a school wide furlough day. i only had 3 days of class this week. FTW
So today i woke up kinda late, and then went to eat lunch at Hot Pot City in milpitas. It was pretty good, it just takes along time to cook your food. After that i went home and finished my homework. I had to work on my Term Paper for Engineering. Later that night i went to my brothers bball practice at MPHS and we scrimmaged them.

Brrr...In the morning today it was really cold and i didnt want to get out of bed at 630am. I had LLD1 class at 730am so needed to get up. It was freezing! Anyways i actually got to school earlier than usual today for some reason. In LLD1 class today we got back our essays from LDC and went over the next essay prompt for our final topic on Global Warming. I forgot my booket so i had to share with a friend. BTW on my essay i got back i improved by 1 point from a 2 to a 3. I think everyone improved because i asked my friend Alex and he said he got one point higher too. Anyways after class i did some homework in clark hall with Alex. Then it was to my Math19 class which it was hard for me to stay awake in and we just went over new material and took a interesting quiz at the end of class. Next i went to my Muse class which no one was really in. Half the class was missing and people where like leaving. Also i found out Friday was a furlough day and we have wednesday off because of Vet's day. So i only have 2 more days of class left. In muse class we made sure everyone has seen an advisor and hows how to add classes for spring semester. also we went over scholarly paper and radio podcast. Later that day just did my normal work out and saw loc. then picked up brother and now at home chilling.

For my weekend, it was okay. Sunday went to my friend's Ed's charity BBQ in Gilroy at Performance art. Kinda of a low turnout but it was all good. Just a place to chill with friends and do photoshoots. haha. My friend Andy rolled down with me on his r6. Rest of the weekend just slept and did homework. Cant wait for next weekend though cause of HellaFlush event on saturday! =D

Chill day as usual. Woke up around 630am to get to class by 730am. In LLD1 class we went over the first essay prompt in our exam booklets and then took a quick open notes quiz about it. Also our teacher told us we only have 4 more classes left because of veterans day next wed. and thanksgiving in the upcoming week. Our homework is to read the next prompt and then find more infomation about global warming. More facts and stats would be best. At break i just surfed the net instead of studying and doing homework which i should of been doing. In math19 we went over the next chapter and took notes. In muse class we didnt get to watch any of the videos because we did something bad. We took copyright music and put it in our videos. Once youtube finds out they will take our videos off. We also learned about RSS feeds. After class i worked out and saw my coach. Then had to meet up with my friends to get some flyers for a car show on sat.

Conversation with University Leadership Monday 11/2/09

Today i went to the conversation with the President and VP of undergrad studies. It took place in the library on the second floor in one of the private rooms. Our Muse class went to this in place of class because our professor was out of town. The room was pretty packed when i got there because i had class before this and it started at 12 noon sharp. There was about 60-70 or so people in the room and there were also free snacks like cookies, brownies, lemenade, and water. I had to sit in the front because all the middle and back seats where taken already. It started off with Ally Gomez a peer mentor greeting everyone. Then she handed the mic over to Andrew Wood with is the director of sjsu peer mentor program. He introduced the people speakers and then go the show started. Dennis Jaehne is the VP of undergrad studies, Jon Whitmore is the president of SJSU, Katherine Casey and Natalie Quilici are the peer mentors chosen to read the questions. This was a open forum where anyone can ask questions to the president and the VP. One of the questions was, how is their typical day like at sjsu. They both replied with, there is no typical day because everyday is different. They go to lots of meetings and their overall goal is to invision the future growing and improving. The only differece the VP has between the president is the VP has more meetings to go to about academic studies. The next question was advice they would give to students. They said since the budget cuts and the economy is bad and no one has money any more, much more people take their studies more seriously. They also say try to get off to a good start, and it is just more than classroom performance. Get help from faculty, get involved, join clubs, and this is how you find your networks and meet new people that may end up getting you a job or helping you in your future. Another question is what do they vision for the next year at sjsu. They said the goal is to make university stronger, but since there is less money it will be challenging. We can cut or decline more students and graduate more seniors students and shape the incoming class better. We also can improve the technology sustain ability. Dont drop out of college. This is why we created muse classes because to maintain quality time with faculty. The next question was about remial classes. They said last year at sjsu it was 12% over enrolled and had unlimited enrollment. This year they had almost the same about of students 30,000 and cut $44 million. Furlough days equals to 10% reduction in pay. Most remdial classes are english. Next quesition was how to we help out with money for college. They joked and said we take donations. When they talk about "we" it is the california. The reason why we have a limit of 14 units is because it will give everyone an equal chance to sign up and get their classes.

Didnt get much sleep yesturday night because i was waiting for my video to upload on youtube. it took freaking forever. and i ended up just turning off my computer and watching it the today. Anyways my weekend was okay. Friday i had work as usual and i had to stay the whole time till 930pm. We had megabite pizza and there was one incident where my friend Dom, the head ref in our league kicked out an angry coach that wanted to protest. It was crazy. seems like always all the chaos happens when i ref. ahha. On saturday it was halloween. In the morning i went to santana row with my dad and met my friends don and harry there. It was their exotic car meet. Saw some really nice cars. like ferraris 16M scudaria. nsx's and much more. also the founder of Monster Cables was there in his 2 ferraris. pretty sick. i should of took a picture with him. After that we went to redwood city to eat dim sum with my grandparents. Came back home and i stayed home and did homework while my brother went out with his friends trick or treating. On sunday we went shopping and then came home and i work on my video project. also we had to turn our clocks back and we got an extra hour of sleep. also i got some freshjive jeans. my first pair of fitted jeans. haha

today was just a regular day of school. LLD1 we just went over our final prompt on global warming. in math19 i had no idea what i was doing on the homework. hard stuff. we took a quiz which i though was kinda easy. i got my exam back and i finally passed and got credit for my exam. in muse class we went to the conversion with the president because prof. dan wasnt there.

Wednesday 10/28/09

Today was the first day in a long time that i had to wake up soo early. For the last couple of days i have been sleeping in but today i had to wake up at 630am. Its hard for me to wake up because outside it is still dark. The drive to school wasnt too bad as usual. I got to school and my LLD1 professor was kinda late. In LLD1 class our professor lectured about the problems we had on our essay number 2. The problem was with our analysis part of our essay. Our homework in that class is to rewrite our essay if you want to, also find facts and info about global warming which is our final exam essay prompt. After class i went to my academic advisor to take off my hold and then i went to interview a engineering student for my engr8 class. In my math19 class we went over the homework as usual, got back our homework, and took notes. In muse class today our professor wasnt not here but we still had class because our peer mentor was here. We just went over some stuff on the agenda and things that are going to be due. I then went to go work out and then had to pick up my brother.

1. How has their college experience been different from what they planned?
She responded by saying," I have been here a lot longer than planned. I will graduate in five years instead of four years. Also dealing with the budget cuts, its stiffer to pay for things. College has more freedom and no one tells you, you have to do your homework or study for an exam. Many students learn to manage their money in college."
2. Did their major changed?
Jennifer responded: My major did change. First I started with biological forensic science and then changed into interior designs. I did this change freshman year second semester because I realized it wasn't a creative outlet and didn't want to become a police officer.
3. What would they do differently?
Her response was: I would of taken more classes in the beginning, I can take less classes later on. Also i would of seen an advisor sooner and would of gotten involved sooner. Getting involved will help you because you will find people with the same goals as you in graduating.
4. What advice do they have for freshman?
Jennifer said: Get your G.E. out of the way. Make sure to see an advisor regularly, at least once a semester. Make sure your on track to graduate and lock in on a major early. Talk to professors and students in the major you are interested in to get feedback and opinions. Also look at the possible careers that that major can give you. Junior year, try to get an internship and start networking because it is a great chance to get a job. Get involved in at least one club but it all depends on what type of person you are. If you join A.S. you proably shouldn't have another social club outside of school because you will just be having too much fun. Try either to join a academic club at school and use outside of school for socializing with friends or enjoying your hobbies. Working on campus is nice because hours are flexible and you meet lots of new people around school.

Oct 26, 2009 Monday

Today i didnt have class for my LLD1 class because my teacher told us that she would free up 2 class days just for office hours to go talk to her one-on-one. I have already went last Wednesday so i decided not to go today. It felt good to sleep in today. The only thing was though, i should of woke up early to cram up for my Exam 3 for math19. The exam seems okay. I feel like i did pretty good. In Muse class today we are creating google adsense. Make sure comment moderation is on. Also the scholarly paper is due on Nov 2. The video project is still due this wednesday for extra credit. Prof. Dan will not be back till next thrusday because he is going out of town.

This weekend was mainly studying and doing homework. On saturday i woke up at 1030am and from 1030am-all nite i worked on homework. I was going to go to my friends party but decided not to. On Sunday i worked on more homework and then went to Cycle Gear with my friend Sean. afterwards we cruzed downtown and then went to santana row. In santana row they had some Cadililac event going on.

Oct 21, 2009 Wednesday

Slept kinda late yesturday cause i was busy with homework and helping organizing some car stuff. Woke up early today about 630am, but i didnt have LLD1 class today, but instead i had to go to my professor's office to go over my essay. I actually did very well on the essay, the only part i have to work on is adding the author's words in the analysis. In math class we went over our homework and had a quiz on chapter 4.3-4.5. The quiz was actually kinda difficult. Our professor didnt really teach us how to do this kind of problem. In muse class we went over the Midterm that i have to take online and turn in on blackboard by Monday. Then Professor Dan lectured a little on test taking and networking. The group video project is due next week and our group hasnt started it yet. I might just end up doing it by myself. Later today i an doing a photoshoot with my friends. Im going to shoot a custom 335, black gtr, white gtr, and rsx. I cant wait!

Today went by really fast even though i didnt have class today because sjsu had a school wide furlough day. I woke up around 10am ish and it was freaking raining. i was like WTH. I had just washed my car on friday. Anyways i then got a call from my friend John Thien. He wanted to see if i wanted to work out at sjsu today. I was like yeah, I would like to go. So he picked me up and on the way there was hella fire trucks and paramedics. I also seen a car that flipped over. We worked out for about 1hour and 30minutes. I finally got to work out my arms since my strain in my arm was gone. It was actually pretty crowded for being no class today. When i got home I orgainized pictures from the weekend car show in pleasanton. Then i went to pick up my brother. I didnt get to go to my brothers tryouts because i had to much homework and studying to do. I hate this kind of weather when it is rainy, then hot, then windy, then cold. wtheck.

My weekend was fun I went to a car show at plesanton lexus. It was pretty good turnout. Lots of cars. I took over 300 pictures and met lots of new people. I might post up some pictures later.

The rain yesturday was crazy. everywhere i went was flooded and full of water. Driving to school i had to drive hecka slow. I like it actually better when it rains because people have to drive slower or otherwise the will kill themselves. In LLD1 class today we had our 2nd essay prompt to write about. also today i finally passed my Gateway exam for math19. I got 11/12 on my second try. In muse class today we talked about our video project, midterm, and scholarly paper. Next monday we are going to have a furlough day and that is the day we are thinking about working on our video project. We need to check out a camera from the IRC. The midterm is going to be take home next wednesday on the readings from the book. The rough draft of the scholarly paper is due on november 7 i think.
also If we video log for about 30secs we get extra credit.

10/12/09 Monday

Today i woke up at 630am to my dad tellin me to get up. It was really hard to get up today. my eyes just wouldnt open up. ahha. Got to school and in my LLD1 class got my homework and learned about essay writing. We have another writing exam this wednesday to see how we improved. In math class i got my exam 2 back which i didnt do so well in. I was kinda pissed off because i thought i did good. we also had our quiz 4 today. Also the internet was down for a while today at sjsu and the MLK library was closed to. In muse class we talked more about the video project and learned about prof. dan's life. he told us that 1/3 of the teachers and 1/3 of the classes are going to be cut next semester. He will also be laidoff. The rest of the day i was thinking it was going to rain, but i heard it is gonna pour tomorrow.

SJSU moviefest! oct 9, 2009

Today i went to the SJSU campus moivefest at Morris Daily Auditoruim. The doors opened at 7pm and the show started at 730pm. I didnt get to go till about 8pm because i had work. I went with my friend Loc and when we walked closer to the event we saw those big lights that they shine in the sky to draw attention and it was coming from this moviefest. As we walked up the steps they laid out the red carpet making it like the academy awards. It was sorta cool also because they had real tickets from ticketmaster and the auditoruim looked very new or they were improving it. I never went into this building before. We had to sit on the balcony because we can in late and they wouldnt let up sit down low. But it was all good. When we sat down they were already playing a film. I didnt really understand it becuase i didnt watch the beginning. But they showed 4 films at a time and had intermissions in between. 2 guys would come out and talk, give out free stuff, or just advertise. I think they were the people in charge of this event. I really like the funny movies and i hated the boring ones. i cant believe they choose those ones to be shown to us. each movie was different and had lots of cool effeects and were made like real movies. It kinda motivated me to try this one day. In the end we stayed till the awards and then left. I got to watch about 12 movies and each of them were about 4-5 mins long.

Beginning: Boxer 1 walks through a vacant alley way. the setting is dark, gloomy, cold. Camera man focuses in on boxer walking and the location. There is a trainer leaning/sitting in a corner awaiting for Boxer 1 to walk by him. trainer is wearing dark clothes and looks suspious. Camera man zooms in on the look on trainers face.

Trainer: Hey Son, you interested in doing my a favor?
Boxer1: in a confronted way- what?
trainer: I need someone to help me win this battle. Its a rivial match.
Boxer1: what do i need to do?
trainer: just listen to my intructions. ill give you all the training you need to survive.
Boxer1: ahh...aight than.

Transitions to boxing training room.

trainer and boxer1 train crazy. camera man shows boxer running, lifting, doing polymetrics, eating right, etc.

Trainer: Push it son....Dont give up...

The lights and area. The music is intense. the roar of the crowd. Boxer one gets pumped up in the locker room. he puts on his gear and the trainer tells him your the chosen one. As the boxer one walks out to the ring, he sees his competitor.

today i actually felt more energy today. i wasnt as tired as used to be waking up at 630am and then trying to stay awake in class. i think my 5 hour nap yesturday help. well as usually i went to my LLD1 class, learned how to find the thesis statement in an essay. this will help me prepare for the final exam essay i will have to write and pass. In math 19 we went over homework problems and then took notes on the new section. We couldnt get our exams back because someone hadnt taken it yet. last class of the day was my muse class. we watch prof. dan make a movie. from filming, editing, and posting it on youtube. our homework is to write the script for our short skit/film, get a youtube account, blog 100 word about video project, update tips and tricks, and go to the campus moviefest on friday.

Ahhh...today was a hard day to get back into school because my family and i just came back from reno. we were in reno because my brother had a basketball tournment for the san jose Ninjas. It was pretty fun because i havnt went to reno since i was a little kid. Also we stayed at the circus circus and it was also snowing on the way back home. My brothers team took the whole tournment too. It was a great bonding experience for the team and lots of memories. Friday i didnt have to go to work because we left early to go to reno. we hit some traffic but got there in 5 hours at around 9pm. Its been awhile since i went to reno and the last time i went was when i was very little. Now that im older i find that reno has a bunch of weird people. The weather throughout the weekend was hot, then cold, and windy. On saturday my brother had 2 games and they won both. Afterwards we went to eat at the Gecko BBQ which was really good. Then my brothers coach kinda drank too much and was getting kinda drunk. It was funny though..cause the team was making fun of him and making him spend all his money on the midway games at circus circus. we stayed up that night till midnight. the next day everyone was tired and their coach had a hangover. He also couldnt find his car and he was late to the game. But lucky they won the game, which their coach wassnt even feeling the victory cause he was hungover.
today was very tiring. my body was all worn out. i also had a math exam today. ahh. after school i ran 2miles and then went to my brother's bball practice.,

100 word blog about video project

So today in class we went over meta tags and html. Also we got into groups for our video project. Our video can be about anything. It should be at least 30seconds to 3 minutes long. We will then post it on Youtube and compete for the most views. The ideas of videos we came up with is having a rivial boxing match with an interesting twist at the end. We also brainstormed a 2 on 2 basketball rivial game too. We are still in the cooking process of finding what our video should be based on. I think we should do something that draws attention and keeps the viewer interested. Maybe something funny or action.

My day went okay. In LLD1 class we went over essay stuff and got new vocab homework. Next in math class we went over the homework which i thought my professor didnt teach that well. So in class that day we had a lot of questions. Also we have a exam2 on Monday. I really need to study and do well on that exam to get my grade up. In muse class went went over our video project and prof. Dan went over meta tags and htmls. After class i went to work out and ran 2 miles. Then went home to pick up my brother and then went to his bball practice. Then the rest of the time i studied and relaxed.

Ahhh....Well this weekend was pretty good, just only i am feeling sick. freakin sore throat. hecka weksos. I had no class on Friday because my math professor took his furlough day, so instead of doing hw and studying that day, i woke up kinda late and then went to work out at sjsu. then had to go pick up my brodi. In the afternoon and evening i did 2 photoshoots with my friends. my friend Kevin had his eclipse and my friend Mandeep had his camry. Then in the evening i did another photoshoot with my friend Loc and Dyno. Afterwards we went to eat at In-n-out and then i ran into hecka of my friends there. I also got treated for in-n-out because i took the pics for the shoot. thanks guys. After in-n-out we went to Quicklys in milpitas for the weekly s2k meets. For the rest of my weekend i went to the J'gathering JDM car show in Jtown which was pretty good and then did homework and went to my bro's bball practice for ninjas.

Today was another monday as usually. i didnt feel any good today cause i was still feelin sick. In muse class today prof. dan wasnt there so our purementor cindy took over then class. we didnt some pro's and con's about the class and then played games.

Sept 23 Wednesday

As usually i had to wake up early for my 730am class. I hate waking up soooo early. I was kinda late for my 730am class because i was taking too much time at home getting ready and i left a little later than usually. Lucky my professor wasnt there because the dvd player that we were suppose to use didnt work, so she went to get a new one. We waited 15 mins till she came back so i was all good. Math19 was the usual. And in my Muse class today we finished the lecture about the scholarly paper and than went into groups and discussed the stuff below.

Chapter 9 Express Yourself

Where i stand right now:

This chapter is about different ways of communicating. You need to know your goals. Most of the chapter talks about writing. It says to brainstorm, ask questions, free write , and do research when choosing a topic. Have a thesis and gather sources. Organize by making a outline and make a rough draft. Make sure you have people revise and check it over many times. Another topic this chapter discusses is speaking and speech skills.

Review Questions:
1. A couple of ways that good writing and speaking skills can improve your job performance is when in an interview you will be able to speak to your boss with no fear and confidence. Also good writing reflects on your education and most employers want employees that have been educated.

2. The thesis statement is the topic on which you agree or disagree on and it is what your essay or paper is about.

3. It is important because it states your opinion or side that you are on and you are suppose to reflect off this.

4. Students should avoid plagiarism because using work that other people published is like stealing from them. You also don't learn about what you are studying or researching. To make sure you don't plagiarize look at many different references and take notes. Then combine it in your own words.

5. Some typical problems you might face in giving formal speeches is stuttering, shaking, loss of memory, sweat, and other signs of nervousness. You can overcome them by knowing what you are talking about. Be very familiar with what you are trying to get across. Pretend that everyone is your friends.

6. Some ways to recover from disappointing performances in communication to learn from your mistakes. If you never make mistakes how will you ever learn to be better.

REFLECT on a bad speech:
the speech was unsatisfying when the speaker started rambling and stayed in monotone voice.
The speaker never made any attempt to correct the failing outcome during the speech.
I feel sorry for the person because everyone was laughing or sleeping during the speech.
Advice i would give is know more about the topic, get the class involved, ask quesitons, make people think, and dont use monotone voice.

Monday September 21,2009

This is my 5th week of school and its been going pretty good expect for my horrible test and quiz scores in math19. Today is also the last day of summer. My day went pretty well today. Same old, same old stuff. Wake up 7am to get to my LLD1 class at 730am and then go to my math19 class and finally ended my day in my MUSE class. After school today i went to my first MUSE workshop about goals. I didn't get to work out today because i had to pick up my brother but ill work out later at his bball practice.

Muse Workshop "Are you hitting the goal mark"

Today Monday September 21,2009 at 1:30pm I attended my first Muse Workshop in Clark hall. The room that we were suppose to be in had another workshop in there and they said they are going to be longer than expected so we went in to the "C" room near the entrance of Clark Hall. There was a lot of students that wanted to sit in this workshop, about 30 or so and the room was packed. Most of the students had to sit on the floor including me. Our instructors were Rich and Jen which are both counselors. The topic that we investigated was goals. We were expected to participate a lot. Some of the questions that were discussed were: What is your goal? What is a goal to you? What are some goals you achieved? failed? How did you achieve the goal? How did it make you feel? What motivate you? Lots of these questions we discussed as a group or with a partner. I also learned an acronym called SMART meaning Specific Measurable Action oriented Realistic Timely. This is used in choosing your goal.

Chapter 3 Be a Great Time Manager

How strong is your current ability to manage time effectively?
-I use a paper or an electronic planner to manage my time effectively.
-I regularly set priorities in managing my time.
-I complete daily to do list.
-I treat my academic commitment as a serious job.
-The time I spend on academics equals or exceeds the time i spend on leisure, play,recreation, sports, and watching TV or surfing the Internet.

Chapter 3 is about managing your time wisely and dividing it between school and leisure. Dont not waste time and manage your time effectively by not stressing out, be productive, have great self-esteem, have a balance life, and reach your goals. Set values and have a plan for each week, day, month, etc. Make sure your analysis your process to make sure you are doing good or bad. Never procrastinate!

I, Arlin Wong am going to get tutored and study harder for or by going to Peer Mentor Center, LARC, or asking a friend at least twice a week to help me. I will monitor my progress by watching my grades. I will evaluate my progress every week with my support person, Professors or mentorers. If i stick with this plan and rach my goal, I will reward myself with ability to go to more car meets or motorcycle rides.

3. The advice i would give to someone that wants to create a term planner, weekly planner or to do list would be to USED IT.
4. Good strategies for tackling procrastination is to do things ahead of time. Get ahead so you will not be overloaded with work and stressed in the long run. Put things that are less important out of your way.
5. You can balance your academic responsibilities with all of the other demands in your life by doing what is important first and alternating fun stuff with study stuff.

I spend to much time on the internet and loitering around wasting time. I spend to little time reading, studying, and doing my homework detailed.

A habit that is hurting me right now is spending way to much to on the interent. I use the internet in the wrong way because most of the time it isnt for academic reasons.

Chapter 2 is about communication skills and having good relationships. You should develop great listening skills and avoid too much talking. Use your good communication skills to solve problems and gain new relationships with friends and professors. The diversity of college is way different from high school, so respect other people's styles and traditions.

I went to the AFE club social last week too try to learn more info about the club. It was later in the evening at the student union bowling alley. There was also free food. I got to meet Ian the president of AFE and Randy the president of SAE International. i also got to meet some other students that had the same interests as me. Lastly i gained a better relationship with some classmates in my class that ive seen before but never got to really talk to them.

Chapter one is about exploring and getting to know your new environment. Go to the library, conselors, advisers, tutors and other services. You also should stay active; get involved in student activities, stay healthly by going to the sports club, and get to know people while you are at it. Overcome your fears and make sure you map out your academic path with an adviser. Also stay up to speed with the technology.

I enjoy being with my family and involved in car and motorcycles social gatherings. I usually go to car and motorcycle meets or shows on weekends and i just like to hang out with friends and people that have the same interest as me. Also you get to meet lots of new people. In my leisure time i like to do the same, but also i like to play basketball, golf, video games, watch tv, sleep, go fishing, hangout with friends or family, or just explore new places. My hobbies are the same. i will just be repeating myself. The link between my hobbies, activites and my major would be they are all stuff i like to do. I believe engineering or something to do with cars would be my major because I like to design, create, or be involved in things.

Wed Sept 16, 2009

Today i decide to ride my motorcycle to school because i finally added it to my parking permit. The bad part about riding to school today was it is really cold in the morning cause i have a 730am class and also i have alot of stuff to carry in my backpack. My back was killing me today. What crushed my today was my results of my Math19 Exam 1. I failed it!!! Now i really got to study extra hard and find tutors or study groups. In our Mcom class today we went over our Scavenger Hunt and went over some other important info. After class today i worked out with my friends. This was the longest time i have ever stayed at school, from 730am-630pm. What a long day. Im tired! later guys

Monday 9/14/09 4th week of college

Starting with my weekend, On Saturday i had this speed reading class at sjsu that my mom signed me up for. It was pretty good because i actually learned how to read quicker and have a better comprehension. But from the beginning of the day i already had a bad feeling something bad was going to happen. The weather was weird; overcast, hot, muggy, looked like it was going to rain and i was in a weird mood. And in my speed reading class someone had a seizure. It was the craziess and scariest moments in my life. I never witnessed a seisure before. Well after class, my friend Justin and I went to the SJSU vs Utah football game. It was our first every college football game. It was pretty sickk. We didnt stay the whole game but we witnessed 3 fights and lots of other random stuff. On Sunday I had speed reading class again. The bad part about this class is that it is in the middle of the day. Today was normal as usually. Im am going to end here because i need to start my hw.

Exploring the SJSU MLK library

On Wednesday September 9, 2009 my Muse class met in the MLK library to learn more about the resources that are avaliable to us. Actually i never new that the library had so many different rooms that can be used as classrooms, like the one that we were in. The librarian taught us mainly a lot of things that the www.sjlibrary.org can provide us with. I learned that if we already have a sjlibrary card, we should try to combine our SJSU ID and SJ public library card ID because there are benefits that sjsu students can get than just the normal library card can get. On the library website you can look up your librarian of your major and text or instant message them too. There are also many online articles and datebases that can be used, but be carefull about outdated online resources, that is why going to the library in person and looking there text is better. Looking up the book that you want is also avalible online to; you can check when it will should be back on the shelve or reserve it. The sjlibrary website can get pretty confusing to use, so get familar with it by using it a lot.

09/09/09 Wednesday 3rd wek of sjsu.

Today was an meet new people day for me. It was hard for me to wake up for my 730am class, but i pushed myself out of bed and made it to school. LLD1 class today was kinda boring, i was falling asleep in class. It was hard for me to stay awake. After class, i stayed in Clark Hall and studied and did my hw with Alex. After that i went to my Math19 class. Got back my quiz that i didnt want to see because that quiz was so wack. Then went to my Muse class, which we met in the library to learn about the features of the new MLK library. After class i went to meet the person in charge of the Spartan Daily. I was interested in being a photographer. Then i went to work out in the fitness center. I ran 3miles and lifted weights for about an hour. Went home and picked up my bro. Then went back to sjsu with Loc and Justin for the AFE engineering social. We had free pizza and i met alot of new people. It was fun.

Prologue Know Yourself and Journal Entry

The 5 most important personal values to me are:
1. dedication and commitment
2. honesty and integrity
3. living a healthy lifestyle

5. having good friendships and getting along well with people

Most of these values ive learned from my elders, parents, and mentors. I thought about each of these values not as much as i should of and they mean a lot to me. I believe i am not truely living up to these values, i can do way better. Yes, i dont believe that they reflect on who you are because these are your values.

The changes that have taken place every since i started college is that ive been spending a lot more $$ on books, gas, etc for college. Ive also have been reading and studying a lot more than normal. I've been trying to get help by going to the tutors at LARC. College is nice because you can do whatever you want and they have pretty much everything on campus for you to enjoy college life and have fun. The most stressful experience ive had in college is just staying on top of my studying and hw. What makes it stressfull, is that there is no one that will hold your hand and take you there. You are on your own. After a while you get used to it and find a way to get organized. If this bother me later on just relax and adjust to it.

Labor Day Weekend

Lots of stuff happened over the 3 day weekend,but ill sum it up quick. On friday i had only on Math19 from 1030am-1150am but we had a wack quiz that i study hecka for and there wasnt anything i study for on the quiz. After class i worked out wit justin at sjsu. I ran 3 miles on the treadmill and lift some weights. Went to MPHS to workout some more and then later that night went to play ball at sjsu wit my coach and kevin. Then me and kevin went to Roscoe's party. On Saturday i went to my bro's Ninja bball game at OG. After the game wit to eat some good pizza at High Five at the Sports Complex, then after went to the Spartan Rider tech day. Then went to Loc's bday party at his house. Then went back to watch the second game of my bro's bball tournment at OG. Later that night went to Movie night social for my bro's bball tournment and watched Fast n Furious 4 wit mom, but no one else showed up. On Sunday went to my bro's last game which they loss at OG. they went 1-2 in the tournment. I also had to video tape the games for the coach. After that i went to car show wit Mandeep, Ed, and Jesse. We showed off our cars at the local East Valley Church on Flint rd. After the show we all went to do rollin shots. Photos where taken by Ed. Today was just a chill day. Stayed home and ate BBQ that my dad BBQ yesturday and studied and did hw.

Today was a good day

Well even though i had to wake up at 630am to get to class by 730am, i really got a great deal on the Icon Vest at Cycle Gear today! thanks to Mike the manager at CG in SJ. Great man to go to. They also had a Bike Night hosted by B.A.D.M.C. with free BBQ, raffle and much more. I biked in with Spartan Riders, SJSU's motorcycle club. We rolled in deep too about 12-15 bikes. It was sickkk. ahhaha.

First day of my 2nd week of sjsu

Today went normally as planned. Woke up early to make it to my 730am class. In LLD1 we went over lots of worksheets and got my first hw assignment for that class. In math19 we got back our hw and gateway exam. And in Mcom we went over the green sheet and did some group stuff. Now just at home studying away and trying to stay ahead of my hw.
